SABOT acquires the need for a Group SHERQ Manager to manage the safety, health, environmental, quality and security activities on their various operations. The organization is a member of the ERG group and has 14 depots spread over 4 countries with more than 430 trucks and 1000 employees. This role has been established to provide support to the core and support functions of the business.
The primary purposes of this role are;
- Manage the SHERQ legal compliance requirements.
- Reporting to the CEO – SABOT as a member of the EXCO team on various SHERQ campaigns, this will require effective management of documentation, compilation of project materials and logistical support to ensure projects and implemented effectively, on time and within budget.
- The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative support and coordination for health and safety, environmental, quality and security improvement programs.
- Develop and educate the management teams on all levels and the workers on managing safe work place methods.
- Comply with corporate expectations for the business.

- Provide guidance with the reporting of SHERQ activities in the Group.
- Coordinate the implementation of approved SHERQ projects.
- Finalise the root causes and implementation of control measures to manage injury, occupational illness and damage to property.
- Provide guidance and develop systems for SHE emergency preparedness.
- Coordinate logistics and administration for SHERQ projects to meet required deadlines.
- Assist and develop formats in the development work scopes to consider SHEQ.
- Provide guidance in management of Contractors on site.
- Monitor progress of health and safety activities on site to ensure compliance with Company Standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in your support to the Operations SHEQ programs.
- Manage and control the general administrative support including statistical reporting, data entry and clerical duties as required (including letters, reports and development of confidential presentations).
- Deal with a wide range of information including highly confidential data.
- Develop and customise SHERQ training and awareness programs and to assist EXCO members with the house keeping standards.
- Manage selected information on incoming and outgoing emails.
- Report SHEQ information and performance to selected corporate structures.
College / University Education:
- Completion of a tertiary qualification or equivalent preferred
Other Qualifications:
- Experience in SHEQ management systems
- SAMTRAC / NADSAM or equivalent
- Working towards health/safety qualifications an advantage
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificate
- Experience in Security and Access Control
- Defensive driving experience or skill
- Management of Hazardous Chemicals
Relevant Experience:
- At least 10 years administration experience, ideally gained in health, safety, environment or quality
- At least 5 years operational experience or transport services or
- Experience working within a team environment and dealing with multiple stakeholders
- Computer literate and able to communicate at senior management level
